Anne Thorsen Truax was born on March 21, 1925. She earned her B.A. in American Studies from the University of Minnesota in 1963 and completed the summer institute for women in higher education administration at Bryn Mawr College (Bryn Mawr, PA) in 1976. Anne Truax began her career at the University of Minnesota as assistant to the dean of students in 1968. The Minnesota Plan for the Continuing Education of Women, the first program of its kind in the nation, was established in 1960 under a Carnegie Corporation grant.
